Here is my journey to find out what makes me unmistakable, what brings me joy... and to release the thoughts in my head.

Girl's Week

You know, I cannot be sure if I miss the guys, or not. :) You see the men folk went off to northern Maine for a week of camping/ fishing. Ruth and I were not invited. At first, I thought about being disappointed, but we are 3 days in, and I am more relaxed then I have been in years. :) I mean, really. There are just 2 of us to take care of the house. You would think that means I have more work, but in the long run, there are no arguments about who did what. The living room has been clean for days. We took a nap, and have had yummy meals, complete with dessert.

Last night, after Ruth went swimming, we had a candlelit dinner along with smooth jazz from Pandora. Ruth thought it would be romantic if she had gone with the boys, and Darrell stayed home. He could have had dinner by candle light. I told her that her dad and I have never had a candlelit dinner. He likes to be able to see his food while eating. But, that led to an interesting mother daughter conversation, of a type that sons do not have with mothers. Wow, this is what I have been missing...

After dinner, before dessert, we shared the cleaning up chores. I washed the dishes by hand, something that is rarely done with 5 or 6 of us at home. Ruth cleared the table. I decided that we should do a little extra work to make our morning go better. So, as I folded laundry, Ruth danced the broom across the floor in rhythm to the music. This is not usual in a house filled with testosterone. I mean who can enjoy jazz while the TV is blaring a game or the latest comedy. These are moments to treasure...

Speaking of treasure, how about this:

"Hi there, little frog."

And you thought we went all girly on you. :)

Actually, she was frustrated with me. SHe is the one that placed him on her nose and came to me smiling at her own cuteness. I, of course, had to get the camera, and it took a few more moments than she would have liked.
Oh, well, it was cute anyway...
