Seven Random things about Books:
1. Reading is my life long passion. As a child, I turned to books as friends. I can not explain it. I don’t really remember much about the early days of reading, but I know I have always loved to put my nose in a book. This is a family legacy. My mother, father, grandparents, and sisters all read. It is just something we do. Books are every wherer in my home. Plain and simple.
2. I do not like to read self help books. I start them, but never finish. The thing is, I can not help but to buy them. Currently, I am reading “Living Artfully”, which my sister, Kathy assures me is not in this genre. But, still, it is pretty close. I am going to finish it, someday.
3. One of my book memories is of my sister, Michelle, reading to me at bedtime. I was in the 5th or 6th grade. My stepmother got mad at her because I was too old to be read to. After that, Chelle still read to me, just to tick Alice off. Oops, maybe I wasn’t supposed to tell. In that case, I will say this instead: I collect children’s books. I love them. You have to understand. I have totes in my basement, and a whole cabinet full. These are Ruth’s, most of which I handed down to her.
4. I have read, and reread many series. These are the ones that come to mind:Little House

5. My favorite book of all time is “Gone With the Wind”. I have likely read it over a dozen times in my life. I find that Scarlett is grossly misunderstood. I also find her inner strength to be inspiring. Go figure. I know it sounds strange, but it is true. I own the follow up books. Last year, I got 2 copies of “Rhett Butler’s People”.
6. I used to read scary stuff. When I was a teenager, I loved to read Stephen King and John Saul. I took an oath at church when I was 19 not to read that type of book again, and I haven’t. Oh, and when I read “Salem’s Lot” at 15, I only read it during the day, downstairs at my mom’s. The night I finished it, I put it in my suitcase, under my bed. That night, I had my first vampire nightmares. I mean really, is that lame or what? :) I also used to read historical romance novels. These are not on my menu anymore, for a different reason altogether. :)
7. I have to tell you, once I put my hand through a plate glass window. I will not get graphic, but the kids at work thought I was dying. What did I ask for? A book. It was my comfort and my friend until Darrell could get to my side. My life would not be the same without books.

Thanks for sharing! It was fun! Though I must say AGAIN that Living Artfully is NOT a self-help book. It's a book that reflects thoughts on living creatively and perhaps suggests some ways to enhance your life experience but it is not a self-help book. LOL!
I'll be playing along tomorrow. Can't seem to finish self-help books either. :)
Oh, don't feel bad about tagging me- this is fun one. I loved that you asked for a book when you put your hand through a window- was that before or after getting bandaged? AND no one is ever too old to get read to!
For the record, I asked for the book on my way into the ambulance. I thought the kid who was tending did a great job not laughing out oud when I pointed out that I have been to the ER before and it can take hours to be seen, while clutching the book to my chest, my arm held above my head, and the blood seeping through the boxing glove size bandage. His response: "Well, you know, sometimes when you go by ambulance, they take you right away." Nice cover, kiddo. :)
