Darrell wants to clean out the trailer we used to use as a rabbit barn. The rabbit stuff has been gone awhile, and we have used it for storage that we don't want to mildew. Our basement is damp, to say the least. Anyway, he would like to start buying a bale or two of hay to store for mulching. in order to make room, I needed to 'clean out' some stuff. It wasn't as bad as I thought.
There were 2 bags of old things from Ruth E, and a broken Rubbermaid container of things Brian had stuck out there. The stuff in Brian's container was tossed, things like one shoe, and broken electronics. There were a few books that I returned to his room, and one other thing was kept. It was a party favor from a 40th birthday party for my sister, Michelle. He is likely not going to recall it, but I did. :)
One bag had a hole from mice. I was afraid of opening it. But, it was dumped out. And I was so excited to find treasure! Outfits from when Ruth was 3 and 4 that I loved to put on her, and ones that she loved to wear. PJs that were soft and fuzzy with Cinderella on them, matching outfits from aunties that were so sweet. The best part? I have a great niece that will be the right age before long, and a bag of goodies to give her. :)
The other bag? Well, that also held treasure, but of a different kind. Books, blocks, and trucks to increase my home storage of things to use for work, and to have on hand when those great nieces and nephews come to visit. Eventually, there maybe grandbabies to share them with. And the books, well, they are among my favorite stories, and will work for showing young parents how great books can be, and yet still I will have a young child's library waiting in my home...
Ah, cleaning out, it can be worth it.
