A thought and a prayer (updated)

So, here is a thought...

It is on my heart I am not to judge others. It is not easy for me. There are folks that just rub me the wrong way. There are others that I love but do not see eye to eye with. Some times, these loved ones seem to be way out in space. I mean so far I can't seem to see how we can connect. But, there is this thought. I am not to judge, but to love and to pray for understanding.

So, that leads me to ask you to come on a journey with me in prayer. My 17 year old, Brian, is one of those folks I just do not always understand. We have raised him in a Christian home, with love and understanding. Somewhere along the way, Brian made it clear that God is "not his thing". We have battled for a long while about our family tradition of holding hands and bowing our heads in prayer at meals. Though I would like to make a point, I want him to know there is love, regardless. Recently, we compromised. He will join us for a family circle so that we can connect and be one. But, before prayer, we will drop hands. Yah, I know, we should push the subject, but then again, there is always the power of SILENT prayer. :)

I digress. Brian is one cool kid. Even if he has chosen a different path than I, he still shows respect to my belief system. I have heard him direct Ruth in the "way that you believe", and help us build on the foundation that was laid. He spends two mornings a week volunteering at an animal sanctuary. He asks lots of questions, and seeks understanding of others. He may not want to follow my path, but there is a light shining along his.

You see, today, Brian reached out to the bloggy world. You just have to read to understand. There is prayer needed. HE IS ASKING. The belief in the power is there. I add my own request. Maybe you will pray not just for what Brian is asking for, but for Brian himself. That the light along his path becomes brighter, and he accepts it instead of shying from it.

I know it is easy to judge someone with a different belief system than I have. I know that it is possible you will not understand. I know you may feel that I am pushing the subject. But, really, this is a request for prayer for Brian. You'll see. I hope.

Edited/ update:
For those that peeked over to Brian's blog. He did not update. She is engaged to Joe. He is heart broken. We are doing more than praying at this point.

I'll pray for Brian..there is nothing impossible to God. I hope God will help what he desires because his will is nothing if its not GOD's will. Oh i should have talk to him because more or less we talk everyday and he talks about Anji, well i thought things were okay as they are starting to talk again..but all i can do for him is to pray since prayer is the best thing that i can do for him.
