Thanksgiving news

As you know, when everyone else was preparing for Thanksgiving, I was having surgery. Two ventral hernias, about 6" vertically from one another needed to be repaired. This went very well. I actually came home from the hospital on the same day. My dressing have been changed, and things look good. I am bored of sitting around, even with books, and tv, and crocheting to do.Ah, well, this will pass...
Our plans for attending dinner at Bobby & Chrissy's fell through the roof. But, God always has a back up plan. :) Our minister called out of the blue (didn't know I was having surgery) to offer us a turkey. We gladly accepted. My father-in-law, who lives next door already had the fixing for squash and turnips. (His contribution to dinner at B & C's.) By the time we were done, our table was laden with beans, corn, carrots (Ruth's own peeled and cut contribution), potatoes, warm french bread, stuffing, gravy, and cranberry sauce. It was funny to watch the guys pull together thanksgiving. I insisted on my good tablecloth, but I let things go after that. So, the gravy was in a measuring cup, and the french bread was covered by bathroom hand towels. There was much love and thankfulness around our table, you can be certain of that. :)

Imagine this, we had dessert detail for dinner, and so this is our dessert table. Pumpkin bread, lemon meringue pie, banana cream pie: all thawed from the freezer. Homemade apple (Okay, I admit to using the lasting effects of my anesthesia), as well as pumpkin and mincemeat created by Grandpa and Ruth. Today is Sunday, there are still remnants of pie. But, what I long for.... is fruit cake! Ah, well, that will have to wait, I guess... Right, Mom? I have to wait, but I will be lucky enough to enjoy that family tidbit? Oh, I hope so!

Thanks for your comment, it touched my heart. I am going to make Butter a quilt, we went to the fabric store to find the perfect material. I am just taking more time to do it. I also decided that with the scraps from HER blanket I'll make a small version for her doll Santa is bringing her. We bought her pajama's with a small version for the doll and she LOVED that. So I think she'll get a kick out of the blanket too. If I don't kill myself first! ha ha ha.
