I don't know what got into my head. I thought Ruth and I would take a nice walk (the trail was nice) for our state's trail day. There were activity stations along a 10 mile stretch. I thought the stretch I chose was only about 1 mile. If we collected 3 stamps, then we could each get a shirt. I was wrong about the distance!
We got to 2 stations, at 3 miles apart. Yes, 3 miles one way in 100 degree heat. Thank goodness there was a lot of shade, and I packed plenty of healthy snacks and water. On the way back, we got to see this deer. It crashed through the woods to our left, and I had just enough time to pull out the camera.
I wanted to give up about half way to the second station. Ruth begged to continue. Isn't she adorable in her misfit outfit? The Halloween socks really topped it all off. I was so glad there were shirts for us at that distant station. (We had 2 stamps from the nice man at the first activity table.)
Oh, and we brought along our pooch, Sam. He started off more excited than Ruth and I put together. I don't think he has recovered yet. :)

Good for you- even though it was more than you expected. I love your daughter's outfit!
